Do these even need an introduction? They’re the famous Lemon Blues! These striking isopods can range from a creamy light yellow & bluish purple to an almost orange yellow with purple. If not fed a diet high in carotenoids their yellow will fade out to a creamy white, which isn’t dangerous, but why take the lemon out of the lemon blue? The specific fish food pellets I use for these guys, which was recommended to me by TJ Invertebrate Dude, is TetraCichlid Floating Cichlid Pellets, which are little orange colored balls. I provide a moisture gradient for mine with 2/3 of the bin being moist and 1/3 being slightly drier with a temperature gradient ranging from 73–80°F. I provide bark slab hides, rot wood, plenty of leaf litter, and a large piece of cuttlebone. My Lemon Blues have a cleanup crew of Coecobrya sp. “Tropical Pink” Springtails, Yuukianura aphoruroides Orange Springtails, and Nocticola vagus “Malaysia.”
