Now this is a Cubaris species that really knows how to stand out from the crowd! With that bright yellow spot in the middle of their back it’s easy to see why this variety has earned the name “Amber Firefly.” These took a minute to get going for me, but once they started to reproduce they did so in an explosive fashion. I keep this species warm, 75–80°F, with a moist substrate but plenty of ventilation and air exchange. They congregate in high numbers on the rot wood chunks I have given them, which makes me suspect they are highly reliant on it in order to thrive. Like nearly all of my critters I give them some fish flakes about once per week or so – really it’s hard to go wrong with fish flakes. I like to use the Fluval Bug Bites Color Enhancing formula which has a main ingredient of dried black soldier fly larvae.

I co-hab this isopod with my Mozambique Red Fire Millipedes (Centrobolus splendidus) with great success for both species!
