A fun little isopod, certainly one I would consider a dwarf variety as they are quite small. For those who want a spiky isopod without the fussiness that often accompanies most spiky varieties, this is the one for you! A prolific species that seems to be pretty adaptable to a wide range of temperatures and moisture levels. I generally keep mine in a bin with a temperature gradient from 72°F on the cool end to 85°F on the warm end, and a moisture gradient that naturally forms from that temperature difference with the warm end being drier and the cool end being more moist. I provide medium to low ventilation, lots of rot wood chunks and bark with lots of nooks and crevasses, and a healthy top dressing of leaf litter and sphagnum moss. Toss in some fish flakes every now and again and you should be off to a great start with these adorable little spike balls.
