Lichen Sticks & Wood
Lichen Sticks & Wood! Lichen is an excellent and unique dietary staple for many invertebrates including isopods, millipedes, arboreal roaches, and more. All lichen from me will be the types of lichen that grow on hardwood trees such as oak, elm & hickory trees. All lichen will be 100% natural and free of dyes or wetting agents such as glycerin. While this lichen can add a nice aesthetic touch to your setups the primary goal with this product is to provide a high quality, safe food source for invertebrates. Lichen Sticks & Wood will most be in the form of twigs, small diameter branches (many of which will be in a state of white-rot, bonus!) and perhaps some bark pieces. All lichen sticks & wood pieces will have at least 60% lichen surface coverage, but most will be 80% coverage or more!
Heat-treated until core temperature reaches at least 160°F which is hot enough to kill harmful pest hitch hikers, while allowing the lichen to retain most of its original color and nutritional value. Most or all of the lichen will likely no longer be living, but will still look nice and be more vibrant in appearance when misted with water (I recommend distilled). All images included here are orders of Lichen Sticks & Wood in a dry state after being heat treated; as you can see they still look quite nice! Click here for more information.
Volume-Based Pricing

Mixed Hardwood Fall Leaves
Mixed Hardwood Fall Leaves! Mostly Oak, Elm and Hickory, but may also contain Sycamore, Hackberry, Eastern Redbud, Mulberry, Osage Orange and other species of trees and shrubs found in West Central Missouri woodlands. Leaves are collected very shortly after falling from the trees and turning brown naturally in the fall and stored in waterproof, food-safe barrels to keep them in great condition! The photos listed here are actual photos of previous orders and an accurate approximation of what you’ll receive. Once these leaves sell out they will not be available again until the next fall season.
All leaves will be heat-treated long enough to reach temperatures of at least 160°F for a minimum of 60 minutes to greatly reduce the risk of introducing unwanted hitchhiking organisms.

Packaging & Order Sizes
Orders of Quart or Gallon Bagged Mixed Hardwood Fall Leaves (Any Quantity):
Contents of Quart & Gallon sized bags of Mixed Hardwood Fall Leaves are controlled by weight. Quart bags will contain at least 28 grams of dried leaves, not including the weight of the bag. Gallon bags will contain at least 114 grams of dried leaves not including the bag. All bags are weighed before shipping and packed slightly above the advertised minimum weight to account for minor measurement variations.
Unbagged Bulk Orders of Mixed Hardwood Fall Leaves (5 lb. minimum order):
Bulk orders are sold by net weight rather than bag volume and packed loose, directly into the shipping box. Each order is weighed before shipping and packed slightly above the weight ordered.
Premium Mixed Rot Wood
Mixed in terms of both hardwood type (mostly oak, elm and hickory) and state of decay, with a heavy emphasis on light, crumbly pieces that break apart easily in your hands. A few pieces might be slightly more hard or solid. Mostly white-rot wood, with perhaps a few brown-rot pieces in the mix.
The photos here are actual photos of previous orders and an accurate approximation of what you’ll receive. All rot wood pieces are heat-treated to reach internal temperatures of at least 160°F for a minimum of 60 minutes to greatly reduce the risk of introducing unwanted hitchhiking organisms.
Sold by volume, not weight
This ensures consistent quantities regardless of seasonal fluctuations in moisture content. Quart and gallon bags are filled as completely as possible while still allowing the zipper to seal.
Bulk packaging
Bulk orders require at least seven gallons and are packed unbagged, directly into the shipping box. Volume is measured by the internal dimensions of the box. A slightly oversized box allows for settling; a seven-gallon order uses a 12 × 12 × 12 inch box (roughly 7.48 gallons).
Large gaps are filled with shredded or mulched rot wood. Boxes are gently shaken during filling and filled to the top, but the wood is never forcibly compressed.
Naturally occurring fungi
Mildew spots and other naturally occurring fungi may be present. This is decomposing wood, after all!
